As a person who has no issue talking to anyone, I found myself talking to the GB Sabre Coach Jon Satfield on a train from Cambridge to London. He told me about the great need for funding for his fencers and how difficult it has been, I immediately offered my services to him for the chance to create a video for them, handing him my business card since his phone had no more battery life. He emailed me back and the rest is history. I asked him the details he would want to go over for the sit down interview and when would be the best time to shoot.

I filmed Coach Jon and James Honeybone separately and then the Sabre team as they practiced. They happily assisted me with additional close up shots that I was not able to get while they practiced.

When the video was finished, Jon and the team where extremely satisfied and had no additional edits.

Client: Caffeinated Crossfit Gym

Role: Director and Producer

Equipment: Panasonic LUMIX GH4, Tripod, DJI OSMO, Spotlight and Reflector

Deliverables: Final Video, which included; Pre-production, Production, Post production (Editing, Colour Footage and Motion Graphics)

This promo video for the Caffeinated Crossfit gym was created to gain more members by showing what they do is intense and epic looking, while still being friendly, approachable and available to every age group to join. A difficult challenge to balance but after learning more about the gym, participating in the classes to gain the knowledge of the atmosphere, I knew I could make it happen.

I shot for a full week in the afternoon classes, and on the weekend we scheduled a spotlight shoot. The gym owners and I created the "epic lighting" environment in the gym and made athletes to do specific movements and motions for the camera. To make sure that the athletes never felt stressed, I always made sure the fun moments, as well as the serious ones I wanted, were recorded. It made the whole shoot fly by and was a fun experience for everyone.

During the delivery of the rough edit before post-production, the owners loved it, but particular shots needed to be replaced because the form of the athletes was not correct. It was an exciting challenge to make sure all the movements are accurate in every shot on the next rough edit and finally got the seal of approval for the post-production process.
